Project Overview

Developing a storage and distribution facility for Granville Oils.

01

The Challenge

With one of Granville Oils, leased storage and distribution facilities' nearing its term, the owners decided it prudent to develop an existing storage and distribution facility fully owned and operated by the company and therefore lose the financial burden of the lease placed on them. This being the case, GGP Consult was approached to provide Multi-Disciplinary Conception to Completion services which enabled one of their existing units to be extended.

The Solution

The new design provided for three times more storage capacity than the leased building. Furthermore, Granville were experiencing slower loading times as the existing building had no Dock Leveller facilities’ which therefore condemned their loading process to be undertaken via Forklift. GGP duly resolved the problem by incorporating both Goods In and Goods Out HGV docks. The project was on tight delivery times due to the timescales involved in the pending lease renewal. Therefore, it was essential that the Completion Date was met to allow existing stock to be relocated to the new building prior to the requirement of renewing the lease. Despite problems caused in the build sequence due to the Pandemic, GGP along with the support of the Main Contractor rose to the challenge and delivered the much-needed facility for Granville Oils.
